coaching_cafe_3The Sixers Youth Foundation in partnership with the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Civic Engagement & Volunteer Service launched a new after-school program at Warren G. Harding Middle School. This is an early evening program modeled after Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Cities of Service initiative called the “Homework Diner”. The goal of the Coaching Café is to engage parents and caregivers in their child’s academic achievement.

B. Free, members of the Dunk Squad and the Sixers’ mascot Franklin. More than 60 Harding students and their families participated in the event, which included an introduction to the Sixers Math Hoops board game, as well as a freshly prepared dinner for all to enjoy. The evening concluded with some holiday cheer as Franklin surprised all students with holiday gifts.

This Coaching Café will continue once to twice a month for the rest of the school year with various exciting and engaging learning opportunities and a nutritious meal for all to enjoy. For more information on the Coaching Café, please contact community@sixers.com
